Richard “Dickie” Baker, Sr, age 66, of Dagsboro, passed away on Monday, June 11th at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Dickie was born in Lewes son of the late, Evelyn and Harvey Baker. He served with the U.S. Army as a helicopter crewman during the Vietnam War. He was a retired Maintenance Mechanic for Sussex County.
Dickie was a lifetime member of the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post #7234 at Quillen’s Point in Ocean View.
In addition to his parents, Dickie was preceded in death by his twin grandchildren, Joseph and Annie Adkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Debbie Ennis Baker; a son, Richie and his wife Sara of Ellendale; a daughter, Katie Adkins and her husband Jody of Dagsboro; a brother, Wayne L. Baker and his wife Denise; sister, Phyllis Fisher and her husband Bob; three grandchildren, Ellie and McKenna Baker and Abigail Adkins.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 14th at 12:00 noon at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street in Frankford, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Carey’s Cemetery in Frankford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Dickie’s memory to , Crossroads Community Church, 20684 State Forrest Rd, Georgetown, DE. 19947.
